CIRCULATION OPERATIONS MANAGER

An immediate opening exists for an Operations Manager at The Telegraph in Macon, Georgia. The Telegraph is a 66,000 circulation newspaper just an hour south of Atlanta. This position reports to the Vice President of Circulation and is responsible for the effective management of the day to day operations in home delivery and single copy. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about customer service and training his staff to always be striving for the next level of performance.
In addition to managing the daily newspaper operation, the person selected will handle the distribution of three partner newspapers (USA Today, WSJ and NYT) along with four free distribution products. DISTRIBUTION SUPERVISOR

The Distribution Supervisor is the front-line supervisor with responsibililty directing distributors and managing operation to ensure timely and accurate distribution of all products within the delivery area they manage. Using guidance from the Area Manager, the Distribution Supervisor implements carrier delivery service and single copy sales objectives by route and/or employee. The Distribution Supervisor leads a team of approximately 25; including a Team Lead and Distributors, towards the accomplishment of company and departmental goals. The Distribution Supervisor will collectively, with other supervisors, be responsible for coverage of all areas served by the branch and will give direction to other employees in the absence of their supervisor. The Distribution Supervisor is responsible to ensure all company policies and goals are enforced.
Responsibilities
Implement and manage against customer service and single copy sales goals metrics. Adhere to established budget parameters including revenue, payroll and expense targets. Responsible for timely and accurate distribution to business and residential addresses. Ensure all distribution employee personnel documentation required by HR is provided in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers as required to achieve center, department and company goals. Responsible for recruiting, training and reviewing an effective operations team. Ensure accurate and timely payroll function for Circulation Distribution employees.
Qualifications
A college degree and two years management experience required. 5 years preferred. Newspaper/print experience. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must successfully complete a background check and drug test. Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance. Must have the ability to travel locally within the greater Atlanta area.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
The Department of Mass Communications at Piedmont College seeks a teacher-scholar with expertise in journalism in a multimedia environment for a non-tenure-track, assistant professor position. Candidates should be able to incorporate multi-platform and social media elements in journalism instruction.

Applicants for the position should be able to teach a range of introductory to advanced courses including some combination of the following: media writing, mass communication, investigative reporting, telecommunications, or copy editing. This position will also involve advising for a student media organization, college and community service, as well as scholarly development.

Ph.D. in Mass Communications or a related field is preferred. Also considered will be candidates with a master's degree and significant professional experience for the appointment.

Preferred qualifications: evidence of teaching effectiveness in journalism at the college level; experience with multimedia journalism; experience advising student media.
