Georgia Press Educational Foundation
The Georgia Press Educational Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit, tax exempt foundation which was established in 1963 to provide financial assistance to students studying journalism at colleges and universities throughout the state.
Now, thanks to a Centennial Campaign in 1986, GPEF has been able to increase the sponsorship for foundation programs. Since GPEF began granting students with scholarships in 1966, the foundation has awarded in excess of $400,000. Since 1994, GPEF has provided over 150 Georgia newspapers grants to hire a paid summer intern through the Billy Watson Internship Program.
The Georgia Press Educational Foundation sponsors Newspapers in Education (NIE) by providing materials to newspapers, being a source of support to Georgia Newspapers in Education and hosting seminars and other activities to benefit NIE.For more information on GPEF, contact Jennifer Farmer
or (770) 454-6776.
